The first is to simply take a rest. Sleeping is a surefire way to bring the player's Sanity levels back to baseline, but it will require access to a Bed. Players can acquire a Bed once they unlock Basic Furniture I under the Building tab in the Memetics Menu. A Bed can then be crafted using 20 Logs and 3 Adhesives via the Build Menu.

All weapon types and tiers will require different materials to craft. The most common way to obtain materials to craft a gun is by exploring and looting scraps in monster-infested structures found throughout the world . Scraps are random things such as cups, pistons, old gun parts, and any other thing that can be picked up while exploring. While scraps are found randomly, many are found in Storage Chests and Trash Cans. Players will also need to get the Disassembly Techniques upgrade from the Infrastructure Memetic upgrade tree to build the Disassembly Bench .

When in the Gear Workbench menu, players can select which gun type and tier they want to craft. Along the bottom of the weapons, menu will be the various parts that need to be crafted to make that weapon. You'll need enough materials to make all three parts at once , as one part can't be made and set aside, all three parts will need to be crafted at the same time, making the gun in the process. While guns are useful tools, players should first secure a steady source of food and water .

Despite the potential infinite ammo of a crossbow, the weapon reloads very slowly and isn't ideal when dealing with the bigger enemies found throughout the world. Bullets shot from guns can't be picked up, but still offer a much higher damage per second output than the crossbow and many melee weapons. Playing with friends and using guns can make even the strongest enemies easy fights.

There are secret, seasonal rare chests that can be found around the world. To enable these rare chests, you have to walk into these purple orbs . Doing so reveals a chest . Sometimes you will have to parkour your way around structures in order to access these strange orbs.

The Weapon Crate is the easiest to spot in Overlook Town. It sits ominously in the center of a small stadium in with a broken screen. If you walk too close to the broken screen, a mini-boss fight will ensue against a giant deviant.

With only those Memetic upgrades, players will only be able to craft a basic pistol. Getting the Basic Gear and Long-Range Firepower upgrades will allow for almost every type of gun to be crafted , but only the basic versions. Higher rarity weapon blueprints do exist but will require players to explore and find those blueprint fragments to craft those stronger weapons.

The first step in crafting a gun is to go into the Crafting tree of the Memetics menu and pick the Essential Tools then Gear Workbench upgrades . The second upgrade will give players the ability to build the Gear Workbench, where guns are actually crafted. By interacting with a Gear Workbench, players can choose what kind of gun they want to craft and what tier to craft. Higher-tier guns will require rarer materials but will deal higher base damage.

Installing mods is the simplest and quickest way to get some extra stats. Each piece of equipment can hold exactly one mod. If you stack the same mod on all of your items, you can get some hefty bonuses to the stat of your choice. When the player's Sanity drops below half of its base value, they will be given a Whim. Whims are essentially unique status effects, offering both buffs and debuffs . Players can have up to six Whims active at any given time, and while they can be acquired through delving into Insanity when the player's Sanity level is too low, they can also be acquired through Elixirs.
