A pair of screenshots purportedly from Bethesda's long-in-development Starfield has surfaced online. It is the next game from Bethesda Game Studios, the internal studio behind such games as Fallout 3 and 4 and every entry in The Elder Scrolls series. Announced with little more than a logo during their E3 2018 showcase, Starfield is purported to be Skyrim in space, taking Bethesda's open-world formula to the sci-fi realm in ways not satisfied by their entries in the Fallout ser








Bear with me if you're an Oblivion or Skyrim fan ; I wanted to switch things up and kick us off with Morrowind , an RPG from Bethesda's golden-age catalog that is unapologetically cozy and oozes with charm despite the dated gamep








Described as a next-gen experience since its announcement, Starfield will undoubtedly skip the current console generation and utilize the power of PS5, Xbox Series X, and modern gaming PCs (however, no platforms have been revealed yet). Currently, there isn’t much known about the mysterious game's potential release window, but Bethesda did confirm that Starfield would be its next single-player RPG , which means that the game will come before The Elder Scrolls VI . And much like the next Elder Scrolls entry, the upcoming space RPG is still largely an unknown quantity. Virtually nothing is confirmed about Starfield except that it's Bethesda Game Studios ' first entirely original RPG IP in many years and that the company considers it and The Elder Scroll VI are its top priorities . A 2018 teaser seemingly implied a hard sci-fi tone, with more realistic spacecraft than those in games like The Outer Worlds or Mass Effect . In fact, designer Todd Howard says he visited SpaceX as part of his research, though he has also clarified that the game's spaceflight won't be as " punishing " as it is in the real wo








During an interview with Wired regarding Skyrim, Howard stated that procedural generation was used to create infinite quests. NPCs and enemies also used procedural generation when fighting or spawning into the world. There was also mention that NPCs and the cities they reside in would play a larger role in Starfield. This could simply mean larger cities with more NPCs, but it could also imply that cities and the NPCs that inhabit them will have more depth, unique mechanics, and adapt to the player’s actions and progress in the main storyl








I think many fans of Bethesda Game Studios would agree that the studio's last title, Fallout 4 , was a great game , although a safer entry in the series when it came to new additions that its fanbase may not have connected with, like its Settlements system and more. Otherwise, there's no doubt a lot to love from Fallout 4 and other Bethesda games like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 , and all of their predecess








During Bethesda ’s livestream for Gamescom, the company’s PR vice president Pete Hines dropped a few statements regarding Starfield while talking to German community managers. According to his words, the development team is still not in the position to talk about the game - nor it is prepared to show anything Starfield -related. It probably requires a few more years of work to live up to the expectations, but Hines is already quite confident that the reveal - when it finally happens - will be an impressive one making the gaming community believe that the wait was totally worth it. In addition to a larger world filled with procedurally generated content, Starfield's aesthetic will see a major improvement compared to previous games. For instance, Oblivion had better special effects and a more colorful world compared to Morrowind, but facial animations seemed more of a liability than an improvem
